ISBU Shipping Container House Plans - 1

Container Home Plans, Designs, and Drawings…

About Container House Plans And Drawings

Shipping Container home plans and designs have been the most popular home concept trends for the past 8 years. Yet most Plans that are being sold as “Container Home Plans” are not even usable. Container home drawings should be designed using ISBU modules and not with the normal House Plan walls and lines that most people are selling.                                                                                                                                                                                                   [Graphic: GreenCube Research] It is important to understand clearly what they actually are before spending money at the various websites which promote the Container Home Plans, designs and drawings. What are you actually getting when you buy these house plans and publications? Yet most House Plans that are being sold as “Container Home Plans” are not even usable. This section will briefly discuss the following information: • What Are Designs 'vs House Plans And Drawings? • Types Of Architectural Plans • Types Of Shipping Container Home Plans • What Is Included When You Buy House Plans? • Are They Legal In My Province, State, Country? • Do I Need An Architect Or Engineer?

What Are Container Home Designs 'vs Container House Plans,

And Drawings?

Are you confused? Many people are. So what is the difference between a House or Home Design, a House Plan, or an Architectural Drawing? Let's try to clear the confusion before we continue.

They are not necessarily all the same, although some people think they are.

House Plans and Drawings are usually the same, however Home Designs are not necessarily the same as House Plans. They are usually the basic design with floor plan only, and not the actual complete, usable architectural plans and drawings.

House designs are only designs, ...they are not completely usable house plans and CAD.

Home or House Designs can contain many combinations and still be referred to as "House Designs".

For example, House Designs may come in 3 basic categories:

1) House Designs that only contain the 3D Designs, or photo of the exterior. 2) House Designs which contain all 3D Designs, and also the other Views. These are sometimes      called Elevations. Example: 3D Views, Front, Rear, and both Side Views (Elevations) 3) Or sometimes just the Floor Plan only, and not the exterior designs, views, and elevations.     (see graphics below) There are many fictitious websites out there that mention, "Container Home Designs and Plans", however when you actually get to the page you find they are only photos of the House Designs and sometimes a Dimension Drawing of the design, but nothing to actually construct a home with. Usually, these websites don't even offer the complete Plans. Their only purpose was to get you to their website and hope you click on Advertising links. The designs are certainly interesting to give you ideas, but to say the website contains Plans is very misleading. Most websites only show Home Designs such as these, and are NOT complete Plans or Drawings for construction...                 These are typical graphics which show both the Designs and Elevations (above), and the Floor Plan (below). Drawings such as these are often FREE from most architects, designers, and House Plan websites -- because they are for ideas and concepts only, and are not usable for actual construction....                                                                                                                                         [Graphics: GreenCube Research]

Types Of Architectural House Plans And Drawings

Once you have seen a Home Design you like, you will then want to purchase the actual Plans so you can actually build a home. There are a few different levels of Plans and Drawings so we will discuss each one briefly so you can decide which you will really need for your home construction project. 1) Design only: This may be a photo or drawing of the home. It may be a 2D photo or sometimes a     3D 360 view. 2) Design with Layout diagram or Floor Plan: This is a photo ro design drawing, and may include     the basic room dimensions also.  (see graphics above) 3) Full Plan: This the the 'Complete Plan Set' with all detailed elevations, floor plans, elevation     views, electrical plans, plumbing, detail framing plans, roof, all sections, stair details, materials     lists, etc. The Full Plan is generally sold with a few options. For example: (Example prices for reference only) Mass Produced, Non-Custom House Plans may cost,  $1000 - Blueprints (1 set) (non-reproducible)  $1800 - PDF File  $3500 - CAD Set The CAD Set consists of DWG or DXF files that can be modified, altered, and changed as needed, then printed. Actual cost of Plans can vary depending of the complexity of design and size of the structure. NOTE #1: Mass produced House Plans are obviously less expensive than Custom plans. However, most house plans must be modified to some extent if you want even slight design, electrical, or plumbing changes. How to get Custom Plans for less money? Find a good Architect or Student to work with, then present them with a basic design and floor plan drawing. They can copy you concept quite easily into their CAD software and in many cases a Custom set of Plans can actually cost about the same as the Mass produced website type House Plans. NOTE #2: Some states and provinces require the Plans be certified by an architect and engineer that is licensed to do business in that particular state or province. Additionally, your Plans will need to be localized for heating, cooling, insulation, etc. It is strongly advised you have your Plans either drawn, or certified by a locally licensed professional or your project may be delayed by local Government officials.
